The city of Kemi has joined the Nordic Wooden Cities -network as a third city in Finland. The city government of Kemi made the decision in this matter on 30th May 2016. The cities of Kouvola and Espoo have signed the cooperation agreement earlier. Also the municipality of Sodankylä is a member of the network.
- The membership gives us better opportunity to be aware of the on- going trends in the branch and ideas how the wood building should be developed locally and within the Nordic region. As a member in this network we are able to learn from each other for better and for worse. It is also important to utilise the learning institution network and to gain the latest research results for actors in Nordic Wooden Cities, points out Tero Nissinen, the Mayor of Kemi
The motion for joining the Nordic Wooden Cities -network came from Digipolis Ltd. Digipolis has executed development projects of CLT-building together with Lapland University of Applied Sciences and the Lappia Vocational College, and has adopted a messenger role in this group of partners.
